Americans Question Trump’s Intelligence After He Boasts About His “Smarts”

President Trump took to Twitter Thursday morning to attack JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, who this Wednesday assessed that he could defeat the president in an election because he’s “smarter.”

“The problem with banker Jamie Dimon running for President is that he doesn’t have the aptitude or “smarts” & is a poor public speaker & nervous mess – otherwise he is wonderful,” Trump wrote.

“I’ve made a lot of bankers, and others, look much smarter than they are with my great economic policy!”

“I think I could beat Trump … because I’m as tough as he is, I’m smarter than he is,” Dimon had stated during an event where JPMorgan outlined a $500 million investment to boost economic growth around the world, according to CNBC.

“I can’t beat the liberal side of the Democratic Party,” he continued.

Dimon also told the crowd that he “actually earned my money.”

“It wasn’t a gift from daddy,” Dimon explained, according to CNBC, in another slight at the president.

Dimon later backpedaled his remarks

“I should not have said it,” Dimon claim in a statement. “I’m not running for president. Proves I wouldn’t make a good politician. I get frustrated because I want all sides to come together to help solve big problems.”

Despite the rumours that he may run for office, Dimon claimed earlier this year that he remains committed to staying on at JPMorgan Chase for another five years, which would prevent him from launching a presidential campaign in 2020.

Trump this week boasted that “nobody is going to come close” to beating him in 2020.
